A passion for karaoke and building apps..
As a solo developer, I was looking for ways to help promote karaoke venues and hosts in the UK, and had a vision of creating a platform that could make it easier for people to request songs online. Over Christmas 2022, I came up with the idea for MyKaraoke, and on December 30th, I registered the website. MyKaraoke was built with the goal of making it easy and affordable for karaoke hosts and venues to promote their services. That's why I am happy to offer this platform to promote your business and events completely free of charge. So whether you're just starting out or have been hosting karaoke events for years, MyKaraoke provides a simple and cost-effective solution for promoting your services and growing your business. One of the key concepts behind MyKaraoke was to not have a mandatory app download, as I wanted to make it as accessible as possible for everyone. However, I also wanted to add some extra features, such as integrating with popular karaoke platforms like Karafun, Singa, and Virtual DJ. It is great that some hosts have already signed up to try this out. When it came to developing MyKaraoke, I chose to use Oracle Apex, a powerful web application development platform - built on top of the Oracle Database, one of the world's leading enterprise-level databases. Apex provides a robust and secure platform for building web applications, and allows developers like me to create complex applications with minimal coding. Its architecture is designed to support high-performance, scalability, and reliability, making it ideal for developing applications that require robust capabilities. One of the key components in building MyKaraoke has been leveraging OpenAI's GPT-3 technology. Access to such advanced AI has been incredibly helpful in streamlining the development process. From copywriting to coding pointers, the GPT-3 technology has provided invaluable assistance and suggestions that have helped bring MyKaraoke to life. Security is important and so is privacy. Karaoke hosts don't want a third party company storing personal information about their singers, so what is the point in forcing them to create an account? Where an account is needed Facebook Login was implemented as it provided a secure and streamlined way for people to access the platform. Not only does this help to protect users' personal information, but it also eliminates the need for them to remember yet another set of login credentials. I want to emphasise that this project has been a personal passion of mine, driven by a love for music and a desire to create a tool that can help promote karaoke hosts and venues. I am not in this to make my next million, but instead to build something that can have a positive impact on the karaoke community and offer an accessible platform for hosting and booking events. In conclusion, MyKaraoke was built with the goal of promoting karaoke venues and hosts, and making it easier for people to request songs online. Building MyKaraoke has been a fun and rewarding journey for me, both as a developer and as a karaoke enthusiast. The project allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills in web development, particularly using Oracle Apex, and explore the possibilities of integrating various karaoke platforms into a single, easy-to-use platform. Working with OpenAI's GPT-3 was a great learning opportunity as well. Overall, building MyKaraoke has been a personal and professional development project that I am proud of.
